Passover recalls the Pascal lamb that was offered in Jerusalem when the Temple stood. One feature of this offering that was that nobody was allowed to eat it alone, rather, everyone had to join a group in order to consume it. Rabbi Soloveitchik explained that a slave who wins their freedom must be taught that possessions and private property are only meaningful when shared with a group of people. This is why this sacrifice, unlike any other sacrifice, was only consumed in groups but never alone.
