Moses assembled all the community…and said "Six days shall tasks be done and on the seventh day an absolute Sabbath…" Again Moses assembles the people and instructs them about Shabbat. Why? Last week we read about the golden calf: and the people assembled against Aaron and said to him, "Rise up, make us gods that will go before us…" The sin of the golden calf was an assembly for the wrong purpose. To fix this failing, there must be an assembly for the right purpose – and so Moses assembles the people and reminds them about Shabbat. Every failing can be turned into something positive, and that's why Moses assembles the people once more.
