This week’s parasha begins with Moshe’s plea to enter the land, a plea he likely knew would not be successful. And I pleaded with the LORD at that time, saying… At which time? The moment in which we currently find ourselves. Reb Yisroel Salanter said: this verse teaches that in life we can’t always “wait for the right time.” Sometime we tell ourselves, and others, that we’re waiting for the right time but really we’re just giving in to slothfulness or our own inner resistance. Busy people know how to make time, to grab the moment, to make sure that there is time. And this is especially true when it comes to an act of self-improvement, there is no better time to begin than the moment in which we now find ourselves.
