See, I set before you today a blessing…the blessing is that you listen to the command of the LORD your God with which I charge you…The commentators point out that the verse does not speak about doing but listening (a difference lost in many translations of the Torah). This is because our Tradition teaches that God counts our good thoughts. One should never turn away from listening to a holy teaching because one feels that it is beyond them to do it. On the contrary, this verse teaches that we will be rewarded for our aspirations the blessing is that you listen to the command of Hashem.
