Monday to Friday our morning service is at 7am and on Shabbat we begin at 9am. Is there any justification for this later start? Regarding the daily sacrifice the Torah instructs it be two unblemished yearling lambs a day. And then specifies: One lamb you shall do in the morning and the second lamb you shall do at twilight…Regarding the weekly Sabbath sacrifice, we are only told And on the sabbath day, two unblemished yearling lambs…there is no mention of the need to offer this Sabbath sacrifice in the morning. This is why, explains R. Moses Isserles, the practice is to pray a little later on Shabbat morning.
