And He will love you and bless you…” – Our parasha is called Ekev, this word means heel or consequence. R. Bahya explains that just as the heel is the lowest point on a person, it can take a long time to see the consequence of a particular action. The blessing that comes from heeding the laws and keeping them is ekev – it is not always immediate but ultimately it arrives.
