If you go by My statutes and keep My commands and do them, I shall give your rains in their season…Why “your rains in their season” and not just “rain in their season”? The verse tells us: man and beast You rescue, LORD (Psalms 36:7). Ideally, comments the Midrash, God rescues animals to support their owners. Sometimes God is forced to rescue people to support their animals. When we keep the commands, we elevate ourselves over the animal kingdom and this renders the rain your rain, meaning it will rain primarily on our behalf and for our benefit.
