A jubilee it shall be for you… We continue to observe the Sabbatical year – the next one begins Rosh HaShana of 2014 – but we no longer observe the Jubilee. The Talmud tells us that the Jubilee must affect all its habitants, meaning that the majority of the Jewish people must be living according to their tribal allocation in the land of Israel – something that has not happened since the times of the first Temple.
