Rabbi Yehoshua Pfeffer grew up in London, England, moving to Israel at the age of 17 to study in Yeshiva—predominantly at Mir Yeshiva. After marriage he learned for over a decade under Rav Asher Weiss, also earning semicha and Dayanut, and serving for some time as a Dayan on Rav Weiss’s Beit Din.

Rabbi Pfeffer has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in law from Hebrew University and interned at Israel’s Supreme Court. He has taught at several Yeshivot and academic institutions (currently at the law faculty of Hebrew University) and has held several halacha-related posts, including halachic advisor to Israel’s Chief Rabbi.

He currently heads the Haredi division of Israel’s Tikvah Fund and is the founder and editor-in-chief Tzarich Iyun, a Haredi journal of ideas and thought. Rabbi Pfeffer lives in Ramot, Jerusalem, with his wife and eight children. He is the Rabbi of Kehillat Ohr Chadash, a flourishing and diverse Anglo community in Ramot Bet.
